De Vooravond van Nooit Vertrekken
Production: During the Monologue Festival at The Roode-bioscoop, Amsterdam
Team: Allidtcha Binazon (Actor), Joep van der Zalm (Direction and Decor)
An intimate, philosophical theater performance about existential despair and the search for liberation in a world trapped in dogmas and expectations. The story unfolds in the mind of a young thirty-something, caught in an inner revolution where her desire to escape reality increasingly clashes with the boundaries imposed by society and herself. Musically supported by melancholic piano compositions in the style of Bach and Brahms, the performance touches on themes such as identity, self-alienation, rebellion, and the quest for meaning in a chaotic world.
The performance is a mix of performance art, music, and philosophical monologues, in which the protagonist reflects her inner struggle through both physical and verbal outbursts. She alternates between moments of intense reflection in front of the mirror and actions that embody her desire to break free from the chains of society.
The script is an edit created by Joep van der Zalm and Alidtcha Binazon, based on texts from Fernando Pessoa, Bukowski, Arthur Rimbaud, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and The Dreamers by Bernardo Bertolucci & Gilbert Adair.
